The Beginning

We live in a world that is so centric on the individual. It is all about satisfying our own desires. Marketers know this, we cater to it and we in many ways, help to shape this thinking. I have worked as a marketer for the past ten years and have seen some interesting things. As a marketer, I been trained to predict future trends and market changes. Something pretty interesting is starting to happen.

Consumers are getting smarter. Not only are they getting smarter, but they are not focusing just on themselves any more. There are all countless ethical grass roots companies that are developing products that are changing the world. They are helping in the environmental cause, or to help end poverty and disease. However, as any good marketer knows, mass is what makes a product great.

I have been questioning for some time now how consumers can blindly buy a toy and be 100% certain it does not contain lead? How can they buy a baby bottle or anything plastic and know that there are not chemicals secretly making their way into our body? How can we be sure that the food that we give to our family's best friend does not contain poision? The truth is if we remain complacent we can't.

But people are waking up and realizing that we can't sit idly by as products that we bring into our home are killing us. We can make better choices as consumers. We need to demand quality. Often that quality is not even a greater monetary cost. But it will mean that we have to spend our precious time becoming informed and not making blind decisions based on what brand is familar and easy.

I invite you to join me on this journey to try to become a better, more informed consumer.
